DIANTHUS | An Introduction to Professional Floristry
Friday 10 July 2020
This day course is a great place to start if you are considering a career in floristry and want to establish a sustainable practice from the outset; using seasonal, local grown flowers and learning tecniques without the reliance on floral foam.
Days of Dahlia's Louisina has worked as a florist for 40 years in the retail, corporate, wedding, and event industries and has built up an extensive knowledge of the industry with a great insight and reputation for delivering beautiful and innovative floristry designs in a wild and natural style.
In the morning, participants will be guided through the essentials such as stocking your tool box, sourcing and conditioning flowers, cutting techniques, stem care, wiring and skewering, arranging and stabilising your flowers, materials, equipment, and an introduction on foam free mechanics. Participants will also receive a welcome package of their own floral toolbox of essentials including snips, secateurs, natural twine, 3x sizes of pin frog, floral wires, and a notebook and pen.
In the afternoon, we will demonstrate how to create a floor-based meadow without the use of floral foam; a beautiful, sculptural piece which has many different uses from funeral tribute to a statement piece at a wedding. Participants will create their own meadow to take home.
A delicious lunch will be served to keep the creativity and energy flowing. All refreshments, lunch, tuition, materials, toolbox, and the use of aprons and sundries are included in the price of this workshop.
Our workshops always use British-grown flowers and we don't use floral foam in any of our work or teaching.
