SUSTAINABLE
FLORISTRY
Rooted in the Garden

Our flower school is based in South Lanarkshire, near Eaglesham, and a short drive from central Glasgow. Set within a working flower farm and garden, the school is housed in a converted stable block, which we have transformed into a bespoke floral studio.
Just a few steps from the studio is the garden where we grow our own seasonal flowers to supply the flower school with the most beautiful ingredients. Students have the opportunity to learn floristry in an environment where growing flowers and floral design are connected.
Our workshops contain an inspiring array of ingredients, harvested daily from the garden and returned as compost after the workshop or taken home by our students to enjoy.
Through our flowers, we teach you how to look closely, work with what is in season, and create arrangements that feel alive, creative, accomplished, natural, and completely your own.
We teach you to work with the natural shapes of flowers, their movement, character, colour, texture, and imperfections, allowing the season and the materials to always influence the design.

SEASONAL

NATURAL

CREATIVE

PERSONAL
Our workshops are created in response to the seasons and no two visits to our flower school will ever be the same.
We teach a natural style floristry using garden-grown flowers and foam-free, zero-waste, and thoughtful mechanics.
We teach the principles behind beautiful and naturalistic arrangements that are guided by the season and the flowers rather than formulas or trends.
We want you to leave with more than a beautiful arrangement. We want you to develop a better eye, greater confidence, and a sense of your own floral style.
Our workshops are practical, generous, and hands-on. You will spend time watching, learning, experimenting, and making, with plenty of support and opportunity to ask questions along the way.
ARRANGE
Create loose, naturalistic arrangements with movement, rhythm, and balance.
COMPOSE
Understand colour, proportion, shape, texture, and the different roles flower varieties play within a design.
WORK WITH NATURE
Learn how to respond to the flowers available to you, work with the seasons, and let the flowers guide your arrangement rather than forcing them into a predetermined shape.

At Days of Dahlia, you won't just learn how to make arrangements, you will learn to understand garden flowers and how to make creative decisions with confidence.

USE SUSTAINABLE MECHANICS
Explore foam-free techniques using kenzans, glass vials, chicken wire, and other thoughtful methods developed through our decades of experience in floristry.
BUILD CONFIDENCE
Understand why an arrangement works, take what you have learned and create something beautiful again and again, developing your practice and experience along the way.
FIND YOUR STYLE
Experiment, play, make mistakes, make decisions, find your creativity, and develop your own way of working with flowers.
Working With The Seasons

Every workshop we deliver is seasonally focused, arranging with what is available naturally and locally from our own flower field in South Lanarkshire and the hedgerows and woodland surrounding it. We believe that by allowing yourself to be in tune with nature, its seasons, imperfections, abundances, and scarcities, your arrangements will be more authentic and more beautiful.
You will have the opportunity to experience the beauty and variety of garden flowers in all of their glory, character, form, texture, scent, and colour. This is a chance to slow down, focus, and celebrate a particular moment in the year.
Whenever you choose to visit our flower school and farm, you will be surrounded by extraordinary natural materials; wild, blooming, characterful, edible, scented, and even nourishing to the skin.

Two Generations of Florists

LOUISINA

LAUREN
Days of Dahlia is a family flower business, created by mother and daughter Lauren and Louisina. Together, they bring two generations of experience, two creative perspectives, and a shared love and passion for flowers.
Lauren trained in sculpture and spent 12 years working as an artist and in curatorial and engagement roles in the visual arts before returning to her family's roots in flowers. She brings an artist's eye, a sensitivity to scale, movement, materials, detail, and form, alongside a lifetime of growing up surrounded by flowers.

Louisina has spent 47 years working in wedding, event, and retail floristry. Trained in horticulture and floristry in the late 1970s, she ran her own flower shops throughout the 80s and 90s, and brings a deep practical knowledge of flowers, floristry, and the wider industry.

Our flower school welcomes students from all over the world, from all different backgrounds, and levels of experience. To join our workshops, you don't need to be a florist, have a qualification, or be “good at flowers”, you simply need to love garden-grown flowers and want to learn more.
We welcome complete beginners to come and discover the joy of arranging flowers for the first time.
We welcome flower lovers and gardeners who want to build their confidence and learn techniques to use at home.
We welcome professional florists who want to improve their skills, explore new mechanics, refine their style, and understand how to work seasonally and sustainability.
We welcome aspiring florists who want to gain experience and enter the industry with confidence, learn sustainable techniques, and gain a deeper understanding of seasonal floral design.
Words From Our Students
This was one of the special highlights of my trip to Scotland. Days of Dahlia is magical, and Lauren, and Louisiana are so talented and kind. The class is small, which makes it even more special. I discovered Days of Dahlia through Gardners World on Britbox, and when I realized a Frog Flower Arranging Class was available, I jumped at the chance. I wish I lived next door to this beautiful, creative business. The flowers they grow and work with are stunning. Thanks to them, I upped my game on my flower ability and discovered a new love.

I cannot begin to tell you and Lauren just how much I enjoyed and needed the week at Days Of Dahlia. I am still processing it all and what it means for me. I am back at work this week but my mind is on flowers. I think I left my heart there, along with my cardigan!
Elizabeth, Sustainable Floristry Career Course Student, March 2025

I was lucky enough to attend the Days of Dahlia sustainable floristry career change course at the start of April and had such a wonderful time. Lauren and Louisina are so knowledgable, welcoming and enthusiastic about what they do. The course has given me all the information, motivation and confidence I need to pursue my dreams in sustainable floristry. I cannot thank them enough. Highly highly recommend!
