Would you like to explore a career in floristry but aren’t sure where to start? Join Lauren & Louisina in their bright, flower-filled professional studio on a working flower farm and immerse yourself in the magical world of garden flowers with our Sustainable Floristry Career Course.
 

This intensive course is packed with the practical, floristry, and business skills you need to start and develop a creative floristry business. Learn core design techniques alongside sourcing local flowers, planning events, branding, marketing, insurance, and costing, with a focus on running a sustainable business from both an environmental and financial perspective.
 

Learn from two generations of florists, with five decades of industry experience and almost a decade of growing cut flowers for large-scale events. We want you to leave equipped with the knowledge to build your own business and the confidence to carve out a rewarding and successful career in floristry.
 

Monday | Bouquets & Accessories

Master the classic hand-tie in our highly gestural, intricate, garden-inspired version of the traditional "twist" technique. Learn how each stem is positioned against the previous one in a spiral formation to create a beautifully crafted bouquets.
 

Learn how to make wearable floral accessories without wires, tape, or glue, including how to make them in advance and keep them hydrated and looking their best out of water.

 

Tuesday | Setting Up Your Business & Planning Events

Get to grips with setting up your business, including legal structures, insurance, planning a workspace, sourcing flowers, purchasing sundries, flower conditioning, and costing. The day includes practical costing and pricing exercises and guidance on planning an event from enquiry and pricing through to design, delivery, clear-up, and review.
 

Wednesday | Tabletop Designs

Learn how to design beautiful tablescapes with flowers, table settings, candles, fabrics, and other botanical materials and props. Create a compote bowl centrepiece using a pin frog, alongside light, airy arrangements in beautiful mixed glass vessels.
 

Work collaboratively to design a complete tablescape, combining your arrangements with beautiful props.

 

Thursday | Branding & Marketing

We will share our industry experience and insight into developing a strong brand story and visual identity. Learn how to build a brand story that resonates with your audience, refine your brand’s purpose, and communicate your messaging across digital and physical environments. We will also host a business start-up and coaching session, supporting you to choose a name, write a mission statement, and develop your first services and offerings.
 

Friday | Large-Scale Installations

Learn how to create large-scale installations without foam, using thoughtful alternatives and practical solutions for designs that are natural, beautiful, and guided by a zero-waste approach.


Learn how to create an archway design in our highly gestural, intricate, garden-inspired style. Discover how to choose suitable flowers and foliage, hydrate flowers without foam, select hidden vessels, source armatures and materials, and build installations sustainably and efficiently on site, alongside organising logistics and transport.
 

All of the floristry skills you will learn across the week can be applied to wedding and event work, retail, installations, branding, styling, home decor, and set design.
 

During the week

Guidance is given throughout each design, with hands-on support and plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

 

We understand that embarking on a new career is exciting but daunting. Whether you are just starting out, have been working in floristry for a while, or are leaving an established career in another field, this course will lead you on a new adventure while increasing your confidence to build a successful, sustainable floristry business.


Our flower school near Glasgow celebrates seasonal flowers, combining garden-style flower arranging with practical tuition in sustainable, foam-free mechanics. We provide support and inspiration to help you develop your own floral style, confidence, and creativity.


Each student will be provided with an exciting and varied selection of our seasonal, farm-grown flowers and foliage. Our workshops always use our own farm-grown flowers. We never use imported flowers, floral foam, or plastic in our work or teaching.


Tea, coffee, and refreshments are provided each day. We are in a rural location, please bring a packed lunch or there are options in the local village within 5-10 mins drive.

 

All refreshments, materials, flowers, tools, and sundries are included.
 

The studio opens at 10am each day. Class starts at 10:15am and runs until 3pm, Monday–Friday.
