Take the mystery and difficulty out of removing floral foam from your floristry practice by joining Lauren & Louisina in their bright, flower filled studio for a foam free clouds class; an intensive, full day workshop packed with practical, in-depth knowledge and beautiful solutions for creating showstopping suspended installations without foam. Floral foam is a toxic, single-use form of plastic which is destined for landfill and causes direct plastic contamination of the marine environment. As a convenient staple in modern floristry design, it can be challenging to create large scale installations without it. We have created 1000s of foam-free designs for events and developed many innovative alternatives and practical solutions along the way to create installations that are more natural, more beautiful and don't create any rubbish for landfill.

Participants will learn how to make a flower cloud in our highly gestural, intricate, garden-inspired style. Learn about which armatures to use, how to hang, install and stabilise the piece, how to choose suitable foliage and flowers, how to hydrate flowers upside down without foam, which hidden vessels to use, where to source armatures and materials, and how to  build installations easily, sustainably and efficiently on site at events as well as organising logistics and transport. We will share our four decades of experience, innovations, techniques, and mechanics for foam-free floristry. This class is perfect for those who have ambitions to prioritise sustainability without sacrificing ambition, style or beauty in their installations.  Focus on creating a ethereal cloud shape, blending colours and adding gestural, textured and focal flowers to create a loose and natural look that is effortless and carefully crafted.

Guidance will be given on the construction followed by a practical exercise where participants will make their own cloud with plenty of opportunity to ask questions. Lauren will take professional images of the creations to add to your floristry portfolio.

Our flower school near Glasgow delivers a programme of sustainable floristry classes and courses that celebrate seasonal flowers, combining the art of garden-style flower arranging with practical tuition on sustainable, foam-free mechanics. We provide support and inspiration in developing your own floral style and encourage you to develop confidence and flair by slowly building your taste and experience. By allowing yourself to be attuned to nature and its imperfections, your arrangements will in turn be more authentic and more beautiful.

Each student will have an exciting and varied selection of our seasonal, farm-grown flowers and foliage to work with. Our workshops always use our own farm-grown flowers. We don't use floral foam in any of our work or teaching.

Delicious refreshments will be served to keep the creativity and energy flowing. All refreshments, materials, flowers, and the use of tools and sundries are included in the price of this workshop.
