Join Lauren & Louisina in their bright, flower filled studio on a working flower farm and immerse yourself in a focused and mindful flower drawing class; observe the flowers' unique architecture, muted tones, textures, and translate their delicate forms on the page.
This immersive two-hour flower drawing class invites you to slow down, look closely, and respond creatively to the beauty of flowers. This class is designed as a gentle, unplugged pause from the pace of everyday life; a quiet, restorative experience centred on observation, attention, and skill.
Drawing flowers encourages deep observation and hand coordination, making this the perfect class for those who would like to improve their drawing practice, focus, and seek creative restoration. The flower studio is an unhurried space, allowing you to relax into the process of drawing and enjoy the simple pleasure of spending time with flowers.
The session will be led by Days of Dahlia's Lauren, a talented drawer and professionally trained artist with over 10 years’ experience in exhibiting and working in the visual arts. Lauren has worked extensively in tutoring roles both in floristry and art, and brings a thoughtful, accessible teaching style that supports both beginners and experienced creatives.
A series of botanical still lives will be set up in the studio for you to draw from, as well as a selection of different varieties and shapes flowers, allowing you to work with forms and structures that inspire you most.
The session will begin with a series of relaxed and creative approaches to drawing, quick sketches, and expressive mark-making. We will then move on to a guided lesson on observational drawing; assessing proportion, scale, and shapes, and translating three-dimensional forms onto the page using contour, line weight, tonal value, and negative space. The class is about developing your attention and observation, and improving your foundational drawing skills.
This class is suitable for beginners and experienced artists alike. No prior drawing experience is required; just a love for flowers and a willingness to slow down and develop your drawing practice. On this workshop you will create a series of flower drawings to take home.
The class will include a demonstration and walk through on the techniques. Support, guidance and feedback will be given on your drawings with plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

There will be a seasonal selection of our farm-grown flowers and foliage to work with. Our workshops always use our own farm-grown flowers. We never use imported flowers, floral foam, or plastic in any of our work or teaching.
All drawing materials will be provided but you are also welcome to bring your own favourite tools, sketchbooks and supplies.
